Entering hours
Enter the hours worked for each day of the week. You can use decimals — for example, 7.5 for seven and a half hours. Leave days blank (or enter 0) for days not worked.
Weekly vs. daily overtime
Most states use weekly overtime (OT after 40 hours/week). California, Nevada, and Alaska use daily overtime (OT after 8 hours/day). Select the rule that applies to your state.
Overtime multipliers
Standard OT in the U.S. is 1.5× (time and a half) for hours over the threshold. Some union contracts or state laws require 2× (double time) for certain situations — such as 7th consecutive day of work in California.
Gross pay vs. net pay
This calculator shows gross pay (before taxes and deductions). Net pay depends on federal/state income tax withholding, Social Security, Medicare, and any benefit deductions — which vary by employee.
