Federal standard (most states)
- • OT at 1.5× after 40 hours in a workweek
- • No daily OT requirement
- • Applies to: Texas, Florida, Georgia, Ohio, and most others
California (strictest rules)
- • OT at 1.5× after 8 hours in a day
- • OT at 2× after 12 hours in a day
- • OT at 1.5× on the 7th consecutive day (first 8 hours)
- • OT at 2× on the 7th consecutive day (after 8 hours)
Nevada
- • OT at 1.5× after 8 hours/day OR 40 hours/week (whichever is greater)
- • Daily OT applies only to employees earning below 1.5× minimum wage
Alaska
- • OT at 1.5× after 8 hours in a day
- • OT at 1.5× after 40 hours in a workweek
- • Both daily and weekly thresholds apply
